It wasn't long ago I was telling you about Herefordshire Council  closing all the public toilets and libraries in the county to save money, well they could save money by getting rid of some of the useless people that work for them... well put the time in anyway. A couple of weeks ago when I was out walking I came across a massive pothole (I know there are millions of them), this one was really bad and extremely dangerous on a blind bend.

Having always got my GPS with me when I go walking I was able to take a grid reference, I also took a photograph. I then sent these details to the council. One week later I get an email from them asking me to let them know where the pothole was, I could hardly believe it as I'd sent them a grid reference and it was a 12 figure number which if fed into the Streetmap webpage would show them the exact location. I haven't finished yet... there's more. This morning I came across two street lights and both had the covers missing where access to the electrics is made. I took a photograph of the base of one of the lights to show the cover was missing and also another shot of the number of the light. I then sent these details to the council and also informed them that the next light had the same problem..... again quoting it's number. One would have thought they would know from the street light numbers where they are located... wrong... I get an email back from them asking me to let them know where the lights are... unbelievable. I have now sent them a Google Earth image on which I've marked the location with a pin. If these people were running a business they wouldn't be for very long.

lol....nuts.

I used to finish work at 2.30 am. I was driving through Cambridge on my way home when I came across a herd of horses galloping up Newmarket road, a main road through Cambridge . I phoned the police and told them, gave them the exact location, and that the horses were heading towards the A14 from the direction of Cambridge  ''is that north or south'' they asked. I told them it was neither...'' there is nothing we can do unless you can tell us the direction they are heading'' they said. I told them that it would be east on the compass, I was told ''not to be funny, and if we have someone who can take a look we will send them'' . end of conversation!

John - regarding potholes the village of Swaton in Lincolnshire got so fed up with the local council not filling in an ever expanding pot hole, despite numerious locals contacting them,  they started a facebook page with day-today stories about the pot hole. That worked - after a few days of it becoming popular knowledge it has now been filled.

Many years ago when digital cameras were rare I had one (it was rubbish). We wanted to get a kerb lowered so Heather could park her car in the garden. I took a picture of the garden and marked two pink lines showing the piece of kerb we wanted lowering. I then attached this to the form and in the box saying described where the kerb is I wrote see attached photo. The council wrote back saying that a picture was no good as they needed to be sure they lowered the correct kerb so could I provide a written description.
