GARDEN VISITORS

The weather here, (and I guess where you are?) remains unseasonably cold.......My Macro gear was on camera, so despite the odds I went bug hunting:

You can see that I had similar success to Annie.....this very small Bee or Wasp was doing its best to warm up in the sun shining on to our Bamboo......I have put the pic on a specialist site for a definite ID.

The front end looks like a Bee and the rear end, like a Wasp, so I'm baffled:

The second shot, is another of the inhabitants to be found lurking beneath damp places in every garden.....The venerable Woodlice......Crustaeceans just like Shrimps and Prawns but having gills that need to be kept damp rather than wet....which is exactly why they scuttle for cover if disturbed:

Both of these shots, and many others were shot using my DIY Basin Flash Diffuser:

I have the settings required worked out now...... ISO 100...S 160s......A f11 to f16..Flash EV high (unless in bright sunshine) ....these setting usually give excellent results even in dark corners or at Dusk....The Woodlice pic was shot both in the dark and at Dusk:

Best viewed LARGE....click on Pic:
