PROOF OF THE PUDDING

Recommended Posts

HI, Folks,

I am truly amazed and delighted this evening................I took my DIY  Pudding Basin Flash Diffuser into the garden, to see how it performed as a Macro diffuser:

(See my previous post with ful details)

My usual kit in addition to my SONY 28/100 Macro lens is a Speedlight on a heavy awkward bracket together with my other DIY ice-cream tub diffuser:

This time, it was my £2.45 OpaquePlastic Pudding Basin with two layers of white paper towel inside the lid......After a little fiddling with ISO) (200) aperture and shutter speed I hit the right formulae....It works beautifully.

Proof of the pudding...is in the basin.....Take a look:

2: A Wisteria Bud:

3: Big Ollie posing.....

just look at the detail....I am over the moon....I can't wait for the insects to appear:

looks a bit warm, which is easily fixable, but gives off a really nice soft light.  i like the woodlouse.

A little warm?

I did boost the saturation in his eyes when I processed the original RAW FILE, it was getting towards dusk too.......I will also double check my white balance......I'm still at he testing stage.

I will have a go at a totally white subject for you........that should test the diffuser properly?

there should have been enough white in the cat to keep the wb in check, but it could be the dusk light too.  maybe try similar shots at a different time of day?  are you shooting raw or jpg?

Hi, Roicead,

I much appreciate your valuble feedback....Yes! I always shoot in RAW....please see my most recent post for a more informative test of the dIY diffuser:
