OF INTEREST TO STREET PHOTOGRAPHERS

Excellent video, a fresh look at this question! But I also think that it's much more important for photographing on the street to have a lot of ideas for photo shoots, so when my inspiration dries up. Can you also advise what you use for inspiration?

Hi, Mary,

Thank you for your query Mary; I found the video useful too, camera size for Street Photography can be an issue fore some; the subject comes up for discussion quite often.

Fellow TIPF members who have met me, spotted that personally, I never require much inspiration, I am fired  up and ready to go as soon as I step outside the door, inspiration is everywhere if you look.

That doesn't mean that you tense oh psyche yourself up into a nervous ball of energy all ready to pounce on unsuspecting members of the public...but rather... Develop a Photographer's -Eye....be aware, be ready to react quickly but invisibly to anything or anyone standing out from the crowd.

Look for the right light, the right shapes, or happenings' they can happen anywhere at any time, if you don't have a camera ready, you will miss them, so have one set and ready to fire whenever you are out and about as I do.

Which brings us back to camera size and why most regular Street-Shooters like me prefer a small and relatively light kit.

Above all....just enjoy what you do.....the rest follows.

Hello Mary and Hello all,

I did some street photography a few years I went to our local town and wandered around taking pics of whatever took my eye. After a few weeks I sat down to and looked through all my pics to find a theme, something that I could grab and use to go off in one direction.

I also looked for what I was not doing and realised that I'd only got a few pics of old people and concentrated on that as well. It's quite easy to pursue say three projects I found that one just gets boring.

The result of photographing the old I called The Unobserved, here's a pic below and the link leads to the 29 others I just put up a quick slide show: http://www.jemraid.co.uk/unobserved.html

Cheers

An interesting video that FUJI, when I had a DSLR I use to always use one of my zooms for street/people shots and just change the lens down till I used the 50mm.  Then when I switched over to all fuji X I got the XF 35mm f2 that is now on my X-T2 and I love to use that.  Like you I am always on the look out and try to focus on what people are up too, with my camera always in my hand I can switch on get it to my eye and get the shot.
