Well after the recent discussion regarding post processing v straight from camera, I decided to take things right back to basics, something I have probably not done for a while. I created this image which only required the slightest tweak of the shadows and light areas and a slight sharpening. I enjoyed doing this. Easy in a controlled environment I guess?

Leon's fault! ;)

Kev - part of my job is taking pictures such as yours, I have my camera teathered to a pc and use Lightroom to adjust as I shoot and as I'm sure you are now aware the lighting makes all the difference, yet you still adjusted the image to get the best out of it.:)

I just get lazy!  But yes, it does make all the difference.

Interesting Kev, can we see the original with no adjustments as a comparison.

Ron

There you go Ron. Oh I forgot, there was a light crop in the processing too. Lifting the flash by 1/3 stop would likely have got me to the processed version. The only other thing is converting the original raw file to a JPEG to display for you here.

Is it just me Kev, or are you losing control of DOF a little  in your most recent close-up shots? (Sorry to sound critical but usually I love your work!)

In this a little.  In the shells, loads. :) No issue  with you being critical.
