Random Act Of Kindness

Recommended Posts

I set off today to my local WWT with camera and 150 - 500m lens. When I got there I realised I had no memory card in camera or a spare. I still went to the hide just to observe and got talking to a total stranger. He heard my strife and gave me a brand new card still in packet and wouldn't leave his address for me to return it. When I got home I looked it up to see what I owed him if I ever saw him again. It was a sandisk extreme 64gb.......cheapest I can find is over £30!!!!!!! If I had realised the price there's NO WAY I would have took it. I can't believe his kindness and generosity. Wow what a lovely guy. I hope I see him again to give it back. Thank you so much, who ever you are. I'm humbled.

That's awesome. I've not shot any 4K video on my camera simply because I couldn't afford that class of SD card - the fact you were given one is the ultimate in generosity. Good on you sir, whoever you are.

What in the name of all things holy type of cards are you using that (having tried them to see if they are fast enough and proven they aren't) can't handle 4k video?

Just accept it Chrissy ...and pay it forward  one day by helping someone else out when the  moment arises ... It's things like this that make the world go round ..I love it ...and I'd bet money  on the fact that the chap who gave it to you  is feeling great too.. If you can't pay it back ...pay it forward .. I once watched a brilliant film about the whole concept , called "Pay it forward " with Kevin Spacey... you can watch it on youtube ...;)

It  is inspiring   though isn't it ? Renews one's faith in humanity ..

I haven't tried any. Simply read the advice that SD cards that are typically around £15 for a 16GB card (the normal ones) cost around £65 for the same capacity that can be used for 4K - this was confirmed by a camera shop in town. I've not even tried using my present one - do you think I should, or would the camera reject it if I tried to shoot 4K?

All that would happen is the video would stop recording when the camera became unable to clear its buffer fast enough to the card. If it will record you then face the issue of needing a 4k screen to view it on and the processing grunt to make the playback smooth.
