My One Lens Challenge

Recommended Posts

Never, since I bought my first lens, have I only gone out with the one lens. I have always taken a variety with me which grew as my kit grew. Today I'm off for a country walk whilst the rapeseed fields are blooming. I'm only taking my camera and 18-55 mm kit lens. This will be a novelty and a challenge. Will post the results later.

Hmmmmm. Not very. I was inhibited by being with daughter who wanted to walkwalk and not keep stopping and isn't into photography and by a very poor gray sky. Still in camera but will download later. I have 8 coming for Sunday roast today and its rather manic here today. Need to impress as my daughters new man is coming for the 1st time.

I have a friend that does this all the time, she says it makes her learn about the single lens and think differently about what she photographs. I seem to be good when I take out the 24-70mm, but whenever I use the 10-20, after about 3 shots I'm wishing I'd brought the other lens with me. I just wonder if I'll ever learn the scope of the 10-20 mm.

Sometimes I just use my nifty 50mm, especially in town where I'm a little less obvious, but I always feel restricted.

(I do hate having to change lenses when I am out in the open)

OK, here's my 1st one - I like how the trees have naturally framed the pilon. Sadly, Im on the national grid and around the fields pilons are everywhere, I tend to use them as a feature rather than avoid them and cloning them out just doesn't work for me as I miss them being there.

I sometimes head out with only my 35mm, like you I miss my other lenses (mainly my 55-200) but I do like not worrying about carrying that extra lense. I have a camera belt bag thing that holds the cera with lense attached, spare battery and not a lot else (it is water proof though)

If I go to an event I take only my 85mm lens it makes you work for a shot

If I go macro thats different  I take a 100mm macro 2 kenco tubes and a 50mm to reverse if needed plus 2 flash guns

I havnt used a zoom for years

Not for everyone but it keeps me in line and its a lot less to carry
