Yes it looks good has had some work done to bring it up to rally spec (or fast road spec ) by the look of the wheels

Owned a sixties cooper, was fun but with rust in the A panels and rear radius arm bushes went plus front brake calipers had seen better days, it all got too much for my pocket so it had to go

The one parked next to it looks like it could do with a bit of TLC.

Not keen on the BMW minis - some of them are hideous looking but without that brutal elegance of BMWs.

But the originals - along with most cars of that era - were rot boxes on wheels, weren't they?  Hands up who can remember the bits of string on the doors?  lol

Smart looking Mini, the scariest ride I had was in one of those. My friend was a test engineer at Longbridge he dropped a souped up MG1300 engine into one with a lot of other modification then when it was complete took me round Stourbridge town ring road at 100mph!

beautiful John Cooper works Mini. 1380cc pocket rocket that would be one scary ride. I drove the italian version (innocenti mini cooper) once, it was like a rocket powered go cart, huge fun but you do feel vulnerable that low down

Don't see many 'proper' minis on the road these days, which is a shame. Where did they all go?

No you don't Chris but each year some of them gather up for a long weekend down here and take part in the MINI RUN in aid of the Childrens Hospice.

Each day they do a run around the area all in convoy and last year there must have been 100 plus. Some of them are original, some modified and a few as wacky as hell, great fun to see.

First one I ever saw was an Austin seven the chrome name plate on the boot was covered in masking tape

It was 1959 in Carmarthen and i think they were running them about to gauge public opinion before they started selling them

there is still thousands of them left but now they are Sunday cars not everyday of the week cars just like the Morris minors have become

I remember they had several interesting names early on - as well as Austin 7, there was the Morris Mini Minor, Austin Mini, Riley Elf (different radiator design), ... and wasn't there a Wolseley version too?

Your right Chris the Wolseley Hornet.

Last year in the Mini Run there was Mini which had the centre couple of feet or so cut out and then joined back together, probably the shortest car I,ve ever seen but as wacky as it looked I wanted it...LOL.

The picture was taken at the yearly 'Minis on the Brayford' event and we had a discussion between my Bro-in-law about the 'Elf' none of us could remember it  until...

I only owned one for about a month before it expired. I'm sorry but I don't share the love for these things. Yes they look nice when tarted up, but as a functional vehicle I don't like the things.

As with many things vehicle related the rose tinted spectacle is strong!

I hear ear many people banging on about how superb Yamahe LC's are as well as spending ridicules amounts of money on them, when is escence they weren't event that great in 1980.

I'm probably in the minority but I prefer the modern technology and reliability.

Nice co picture by the way, although the one to the right is probably more indicative of my memory of these things. :)
