This is something that has been lost in the digital era, the odd shot to finish off the film. I'd got one shot left on Sunday, so I thought I'd just see how the Moskva-5 and its Industar-24 works at the minimum  distance of 1.5m.

Focussing was on the rose, and parallax was guesswork as there are no close-focus lines in the viewfinder (and the lens blocks part of the view as well).

That’s  a Russian  machine nearly as old as me James ....    I bet there aren’t that many of those surviving  in working order. ...  I just had a read about  it and it does look awkward  to  use the viewfinder... which eye do you usually use ?

This one dates from 1958 (Camera from the (former) Soviet Union are very easy to date as the first 2 digits of the serial number are the year).  I have never been able to use a telescope or viewfinder with my left eye so I have to use the right even though it's the wrong side, but actually it's not that difficult even with my big nose.

They aren't that uncommon as they were very much the mainstay of Soviet medium format photography.

Maybe you can show us a picture of it next time you’re using a filler. So we can see  it ...      it sounds like you have quite a collection of old cameras ....    you must be a very patient soul methinks ... it always  felt like such hard work to me  when I was younger ... ?..
