Good morning  Chrissie...these are lavender plants farmed near Chipping Camden in the Cotswolds about 35 minutes away from me . They will be harvested in the next week or ten days so there is just a small window of opportunity to get images of them out in full bloom ... about three weeks... So  it gets full of tourists by midday and one can hardly see the flowers for folks with cameras on selfie sticks!!  You have to get there early to avoid them ....or be adept with the clone tool...;)

Hi Chrissie ,,,They farm Lavender in  Norfolk and near York too ... about 80 minutes from you I suspect.

It's probably a week or so behind in the growing season so you could just be catching at its best in the next few weeks ... I'd ring to check before going but you'll love it I imagine . I'm just a sucker for Lavender shortbread ...It tastes  out of this world and I buy the culinary essence and the grains to use in cooking ...

Here's a link to a recipe on the Cotswold Lavender site

Do tell us if you go ...and take some pics ...obviously! :pic:

Thanks John ... It's just eyecatching to see fields of purple... not seen that often I suppose 'cept in a few places. . Like Judy,. I love to see the wild flower meadows ....yet they have to be cultivated and managed to ensure  they grow every year. A friend  has put 3 acres of her land over to wild flower meadow and she just mows a 6 foot wide swathe  into various paths to walk through  with some benches under a few suitable  trees  to give shade....on those days when the sun does shine ...

They sell a lavender fudge  that is to die for Judy ... I  shall try making some  at home !  You have to get just the right amount of Lavender essence and   grains in ....  or it  could taste like floor polish!
