  1. Great choice Dee, this was my favourite from this week. Congratulations Phil!
  2. Has anyone tried these cheap wireless flash triggers? Are they worth the small outlay or would I be better off investing in something a bit better? Opinions please http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wireless-Flash-Trigger-Hot-Shoe-3-Receiver-for-Canon-Nikon-Olympus-Sigma-LF107/131214794386?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140328180637%26meid%3D88ea455c40284fb8804f2db4cbe380eb%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D161019232807
  3. I've tried various methods but ended up using a folder for each year. Within those folders are sub folders that are named date/subject ie, 2015-01-22 Morecambe, that's where I store my raw files from that day. Any edits that I do are stored as JPGs in another sub folder called Exports. I use Adobe Lightroom as my main editor and filing system, so I can add keywords such as landscape, portrait, clouds, horses etc which makes it very easy to search for images at a later date. It's a very simple system because that's how I need it to be.

    Hello all

Hi Steve, a warm welcome on this freezing cold day!

    POTW - w/e 18/1/15

    Congratulations Paul!
  7. At this stage in my photographic game I can't afford a dedicated calibration kit, but I have done the Windows self calibraton test on my monitor. The result was that it wasn't far off the ideal settings. I also use a spare 20" HD tv; I ran the same self test program on that and made some adjustments. In theory, the two monitors running side by side should look pretty much the same; this is not the case. No matter how I try, or the adjustments I make, the colours on the two monitors look different.
  8. Ah well, never mind; you have to take the rough with the smooth I suppose! Seriously though, congratulations! Good to see you getting the exposure your pictures deserve

    Headphones

I thought my Audio Technica headphones were good until my son bought me my Sennheiser set for a significant birthday, never used anything else since!

  11. Hello Thomas, a warm welcome to TIPF!

    little video

Great way of showcasing some of your best shots. Nice work Leon!
  13. I'm in the same boat Mark, my current pc is very unreliable and slow. I plan to build my own computer. I've decided against a laptop because I want to be able to upgrade components as needed and money allows. This also gives me the chance to use as large a monitor as my wife will allow I can afford.
  14. I have a Nikon D5100 and not too long ago I bought the 35mm f1.8; I love it. Nikon DX crop factor is 1.5 which gives this lens the 35mm equivalent of 52.5mm. It is small, light, pin sharp and relatively inexpensive. I plan on buying the 50mm f1.8 this year primarily because it is so cheap (it costs about the same as a tank of fuel for the van). Whichever one you choose you will not be disappointed.
  15. Congratulations Kev, great shot!
  16. Hi Mark, welcome from over the water in Morecambe!
  17. JHF I think we're at cross purposes here. Never mind, on with the game! Scutter
  18. Congratulations Korky, cracking good shot!
