  1. I'm beginning to see your point there BP - iso 3200 and 4000 both at f5.6 & hand held straight off the camera just re-sized in PS taken in our dark hallway.
  2. must say I'm impressed with the iso, these have no off camera noise reduction only editing i have done is crop and sharpen the RAW files. click pic for larger version

    Boxing Day

Thanks Heather, I may go over to Lincoln tomorrow or friday and try a few shots around the cathedral and if the rain stops I may even try a few night time photos outside here!
  4. Hi Beth - similar advice from me ... decide how much, new or used and if you should just buy a body rather than a camera that comes with a kit lens which maybe of no use for motor sport pictures.

    Boxing Day

Yvonne bought me a Nikon D7000 body for Christmas so today I went down to the gathering of the local hunt, unfortunately I think I left it a bit late, far too many people and not enough time. I'm finding the D7000 a whole lot different from my D80, 39 focus points while panning didn't work too well guess I need to rethink things a little. Hopefully the much higher iso capability will be a benefit with my low light photography

Annie noooooooo your doing it all wrong... I asked the magazine to send me a free copy for using the image http://www.pridemagazines.co.uk/places/lincoln
  15. some how I just can't see FB/instagram committing marketing suicide and a re-think must surely be on the way? Good way to get your company name a little free world wide publicity, they do say even bad publicity is good publicity

perhaps people should also read the replies as well as the headline "I don't understand the fuss, most photo's uploaded to instagram are of poor quality and of little value. To sell images online, you need something of at least 16 megapixels and absolute 100% in focus" "I would feel rather proud if they used any of my photos! If you don't like it then leave Instagram :-)) Simple." "Unless you are a pro photographer, no need to get bothered. And if you are a pro, why are you using this app?" and yes there are those who make comments both fore and against - but in reality and as the article says it would be marketing suicide for instagram to simply say 'we have the right'. Well worth watching to see what happens but some how I can't see either FB or instagram committing suicide

Jeez Dave I think it would take me until Christmas to reply to that lot I do think you are reading to much into Facebook, after all there are numerous other social 'copies' such as bing, twitter etc which is why the 'trend setters' often leave /delete their account on one and join up with the next supposed big thing. As for the police - they didn't want the public to have access to walky talkies in the 70's CB radios in the 80's, the powers are not happy about Blackberry BB as they can't access it as freely as text and lets face it if they want to view my nattering with others on FB about cameras - fine by me. I'm sure the police and the government would love us all not to be able to quickly and easily communicate with each other, be easier to keep us all under control but then that would be a different society altogether. one thing I do know is the term 'Find us on Facebook' is being seen and used by more and more companies, businesses and clubs. One local and very successful event last year used FB to promote and keep people update with info, whilst they had a web site the FB feed worked and is still working extremely well take a look - https://www.facebook.com/BRMDay2012. I think perhaps we should look to the positive and not the negative.
  18. one of my all time favs - shame about the video though.

    Facebook

sorry Dave you are mistaken this site open to view by anyone who can read what you say and post. I belong to several Facebook sites you cannot view without being a member and you cannot be a member unless you come recommended by other members. In the same way you would not shout about your personal details in a busy street you should not do so on any open forum as you do not know who will read and re-post elsewhere. The notion that employers spend time trawling Facebook is just plain stupid as most people seldom use their full name and besides there is no need as there is always someone who will stab you in the back and point the finger if it means a leg up the ladder and they have been doing that well before computers were around - and so has identity theft. Facebook and the like are just a modern form of connecting with others and as it morfs and reforms more and more people, businesses, clubs and forums are finding it a very useful tool.

    Facebook

??? can't say I agree with that and I don't really see much difference between the local camera group I belong to on Facebook and this site, both work well you get back what you put in. I also find it a good way to keep in contact with my friends old and new I have around the world. If you have not subscribe to it then the email you received is very unlikely to have come from Facebook and as I said at the top of the thread the best thing is to delete it, you could also set up your email account to automatically delete or send to the spam folder any future/similar emails.

    Facebook

if you never use Facebook then they will not send you an email and facebook don't really send emails about 'friends' that usally comes via the facebook notification system - deleting it is the best thing you could have done.
  24. my first car was a mini, spent 6 months doing it up only to be hit and written off a few weeks later by a drunk driver in a big old Ford Executive

    hello

mmmmmmm Phil has 'friends'? Do we have proof? or is this one of Phils plots to boost up the anti cat membership? As you have a Nikon I'll take it you are a real person, (unless proved otherwise) so... a BIG Hello from me
