  2. just bought a 18-55 kit lens for £26 too
  3. I have just won a used 1000d on ebay body only and a few accessories the guy "says" it's taken less than 50 photo's, bargain (I hope) at £130 now looking for a lens to go with it, thinking 55-200 as an all rounder? i realise it's the bottom rung of the ladder but I have to start somewhere, I'll be keeping the FZ45 for the zoom range, buying a canon 600mm lens will be mega money do I need a 50mm?, is it just for BOKEH? I just started a whole new education for my photography, wish me luck.

    sad story

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/10059094/Man-set-himself-on-fire-after-being-pursued-by-loan-sharks.html read this, such a sad story, Paul Tunnah mentioned is one of my customers at work, putting another person first, he is being commended by Bolton council, sadly he risked himself for nothing
  7. I agree he has guts, and I agree motorbikes belong on a track

    Lol.

I admire the bloke, started out like the rest of us and look at him now, I wish he'd share some of his "luck" and business sense with me!!

    POTW W/e 12/05/13

    excellent!!
  10. I have just mentioned buying "her" a camera, she thinks I just use it for an excuse to get myself a new one!!....I'm still looking for a cheap fz50!!!

    A Copper.

I work 30 seconds from Bolton police station, the only time I se bobbies is dinner time, by the fast food bit in ASDA!!
  12. the other day at the beach I was joining in with the kids building sandcastles, I asked SWMBO to hold my camera, she wanted a few shots of me with the kids for a change, I showed her how to use the zoom then put it on auto mode, things like wonky horizons ect are to be expected and the odd head cut off a couple but really she is artistic, she used to be a florist, she also likes scrapbooking and card making. when I got ome I saw these three shots, I hung up my camera, (then offered her mine so I can have a new one...she said no ) she was sooo SMUG!!
  13. welcome along. we are a friendly bunch so you will like it here. as for a camera I use a bridge camera (better than a basic point and shoot but easier to work out than a DSLR) in my opinion you would be better starting with a 2nd hand high end bridge like a HS10, FZ100 maybe?, van be be obtained from the bay of E for £120-150, then if you upgrade it will not really loose any value enjoy your new found hobby, Leon
  14. New tripod feels quality all metal ball head and plate, legs could be firmer when fully extended but overall very good
  15. it did, luckily i had the lens cap on, only thing that broke
  16. If you remember the "other" forum Colin you will remember I dropped the camera down a 30' hill into a stream the week after I bought it!!
  17. well my Camlink tripod has finally given up, I have rebuilt it once after dropping it so I treated myself, now some of you will still think it's cheap but I just can't justify spending £100+ on something I rarely use. here;'s what I have ordered http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Traveller-Compact-Pro-Tripod/dp/B002L4ODDS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1367697813&sr=8-4&keywords=hama+tripod it will hopefully arrive before the racing at Harewood next sunday
  18. my only replies will have foul language and offers of violence, if I were there he would not have been grinning, not good!!
  19. I have just joined up to Fuelly, only takes a minute, it tracks your TRUE MPG, provided you stick to it http://www.fuelly.com/dashboard/
  20. as a car fanatic you would not believe what "quality" engine and gearbox oil can do, on my 14 Year old Accord I had a bet with a Honda Technician and lost, premium Oil, Gear oil and Super unleaded gave me an extra 50 miles per tank!!, cheap Supermarket petrol is cheap for a reason, less additives ect. My latest car so far is averaging around 36 mpg, 1.8 petrol Nissan Tino, I'll change the fluids over the next few weeks, should have a better feeling car then, the average car only has new gear oil on the day of purchase!! http://www.mpgenhance.com/transmission.html http://www.mpgenhance.com/synthetic.html and another over looked thing is tyre pressure, with flat tyres the motor is working harder to push the tyres round I best stop now or I'll have to wake you all up
