  1. I have been using 7dayshop for fifteen years, its a cheap tripod with little going for it, but, hey for £10 even if used as a small low level mount for flowers what is there to lose Fully featured It even has a 12 month guarantee
  2. I've just updated my professional profile on LinkedIn. Connect with me and view my profile. http://t.co/rWXE57ZZUM #in

  3. err the Americans call flash "stobe" yet we all know strobe is an "effect"
  4. Two proverbs to live by A fool and their money are soon parted Only fools rush in where ............
  5. +1 you get what you pay for though standard Canon?nikon lenses are not poor either just that for constant photography use in the hands of knock them about pros they are "built" to take the knocks
  6. I cant find a smiley sticking it's tongue out :) Thanks
  7. And all because the lady loves, sorry man loves white lenses ..................................................................
  8. Thank you Korky NOT struggling now as when my father died the house when through sale last month and I have inherited a large sum allowing me to do this all. Also if you think about it £5k is nothing these days, the average smoker spends £2,300 a year, Also in response to the person who spoke of a "tax dodge placing my name on the side of the boat" Fuller explanation. Dad died, gone through probate, six months later inheritance, totally 100% off all benefits now because this has allowed me to not only develop my business fully I can now also employ my 2nd eldest son who was to the end of this month on JSA, now earning a wage from me albeit minimum. I bought the boat to promote my company, or at least am buying, as it IS my business and the boat will be used for races, promo, at festivals with LIONSTAR a band I also support http://www.lionstarmusic.com/, and amongst other things will be used for weddings, shooting the couple in a P1 boat after and depending on location before, then it is a "business asset", NONE of this would have been possible before the death of my father, so NOT boasting, not showing off, simply managing an inheritance the best way I can and making the most of an opportunity. The boat offers me FREE UK and USA Sky TV coverage, I am also seeking sponsors from within certain "photographic communities", so rather than squander an inheritance, I am building a business to support my family, employ my family and hopefully work till I am old. As for will I generate enough to cover the expense, I am lucky black pearl, you now KNOW where the money has come from, and if I don't generate enough from TV, local news coverage, etc then I will have had a blasted good try.
  9. I can name hobbies that cost much more that I am involved in, motocross, powerboat racing, jet ski sponsorship and more As I clearly stated I am expanding and growing moving into Video, various websites, I have just bought four new domains, I am entering my own P1 Panther powerboat into races for the next three (and more years) costing me £40k next year, so I DO know of hobbies which £5k is pocket money Name on side, boat is (will be mine in a different livery) The P1 Panther uses £5k in petrol over 6 races "It's the cost of the toys that separate the men from the boys"
  10. 100%, as I have said many times here I have been into photography all my life, and I have taken it as seriously as I have enjoyed it ! However I only started this business 18 months ago, before that as an amateur I spent £5k a year on it as a hobby, I don't smoke or drink and live for photography. As the business expands I buy what I need and se aside a budget every year that covers the business AND it as a hobby. But I don't expect that next year as I will have most of what I need this and then it will be buy as needed and when needed
  11. depreciation, upgrades, new business plans such as still to video to 4k, expansion, all rather basic really
  12. Do you remember a time when you were asking "how to get into this" :)
  13. 15K is in fact a budget I set calculated on my spend as a working photographer from last year and previous years. My gear is due for a change, and I have had, to this year Canon and Nikon kits, now the Canon is past it's prime and I am investing 100% in Nikon, (not just for colour ) it would just be nice to have colour choice.
  14. What an odd comment for an administrator, in what context !!!!!! Ok perhaps it could have been placed in a better part of the forum but it is a serious comment for me. I have set aside £15k for new gear and if Canon did an 80-400 like Nikon I would get it, I prefer the white Canon lenses just as I prefer a black car to a red one, that is why cars come in different colours and in case it has gone un noticed that is why some cameras also now come in white, blue, red etc CHOICE
  15. Well B*********** me, you are on to something, many a true word spoken in jest Thanks
  16. Lets face it I like the white Canon, we Nikon users have nothing to show better lenses apart
  17. you are supposed to be able to place the mouse on the image and pan either direction
  18. Same here I can't sit in a low vehicle ever since I bought my first Scenic, in fact I will be getting a large commercial type van with two rows of seats in the back this year and windows, taking out one row and replacing them with a table to take my printers and laptop it's cheaper than a camper type van Can't do this in a small car
  19. This is a general discussion forum not just photography. Social workers, enough bad ones there as time, dead children and cases have proven. My sons were taken away by one claiming bad father, two years later, a sacked social worker later a court apology and sons returned
  20. I have to say I am the same as you, if it does not directly affect me then it is of little interest, not NO interest, there are many occasions where terrible things have happened and I feel for the people, e.g where that poor 3 year old child died due to hospital blunders, sad and I feel for the parents, but I would not make a noise about it. I think the problem today is, if you don't join in and feel, shout, rant, rave, you are also seen as having something wrong with you. Work, paid to do so through choice, a job they decided to do like filling a shelf in tesco
  21. Along with Garry Glitter and Jimmy Saville to name but three. Very disappointing, ok yes I FULLY believe that they deserve everything that is and has come to them for what they did and have done, along with other people yet to be found out, but they have not just done what they have, they have let down generations like me who loved them for their entertainment. I met Saville in Scotland years ago, at a Highland games, I had my sons and my photo taken with him, autographs etc, it was a great day, enjoyed it, and it will still remain with me as a day to remember, but now so many have had their dreams shattered. I also feel sorry for their families if they genuinely had no idea.
  22. "lovelly Jubbly" And YES this is where the Dell boy expression originated My gran owned a "handy shop" in Hayes, Middlesex, and sold sweets, ice cream and all sorts, and sold them frozen
