  1. just 1.5 hours, I have sat in a hide for 8 hours you have a lot to learn about natural history photography
  2. Switch to just the centre focus point I use nothing else,
  3. Can a car brake down Or are you just having an off day Check other lenses, could be you or the camera also
  4. Yes but as I said I am not comparing the bottom of the range with the top, I am saying that each camera one above the previous has very little difference to offer
  5. Absolutely, could not agree more, same as compacts, so much alike and a new one every day, what is the point. In times gone by you knew that a new camera would come out in a few years with a large leap forward and you had a reason for change, now I believe in the race to stay in front manufacturers have shot themselves in the foot, which is why rightly or wrongly the Df is doing well, people are "looking back" at the retro style that has offered something a little different
  6. Is it me or are all cameras these days the same ? Ok I know they are not but think about it. When I started out there was a clear distinction between amcams, hobbyist cameras and pro cameras, for example, you had the "Praktica" range, such as the Super TL which I had, a great entry level SLR, then you had the Pentax Spotmatic, advanced users camera, then the Nikon F's, pro cameras, yes I am not being 100% accurate in times or range but you get the idea. There was a large "gap" between the 1-1/500th fixed back Prakticas and the Nikon F interchangeable screen/back/drive cameras. However these days one is hard pushed to even really finds a difference. I know there are subtle ones, but most DSLRs from the likes of Pentax, Nikon and Canon offer exceedingly close specs on shutter speeds, and features. Take the Nikon D3200,3500, 7000, 7100 (or similar in Canon, apart from the extra odd FPS, focus points etc there is NO massive leap between the cameras, perhaps now, we have as someone said, reached the top of the mountain, and other than throw more and more MPs at the customer there is little more to do. I was going to buy a D4s, I still may for the FF, but as I shoot mainly sports, I bought a 7100 to add to my two 7000s, and to be honest, I find little to justify the additional £4200 the D4s costs, when you see the ability of the so called "prosumer" models now, no wonder amateurs and newbys are confused.
  7. If I can't "buy" it and "own" it and have it on whatever computer I want then I don't want it, and if MY computer goes down than I can only blame me when the server online goes, no way
  8. I know Joss personally so I have no problem either, and perhaps you are partially right but I have yet to see any recorded case of this happening in the UK and celeb photos make money for people every day here, in fact one of the best known, Patrick Moore (also a past long term friend) has had his image used throughout time by people on mugs, T shirts etc and as his agent told me, "It isn't financially worth acting on"
  9. Don't I know it, ordered something, can't remember what but showed my son, the box could have taken another eight
  10. Blasted things, you can slit your wrists opening them
  11. Split up the phone number 07905073624 (mine) is hard to call, people prefer 3 or 4 digits (07905) 073 624, easier to dial, and yes I know a mobile does not have a (*****) dial code but we humans are used to seeing this format, less like a mobile
  12. Good for you, that's the way to go. I am sponsoring Cardinal Racing for the next three years, better known as "Team Ty-phoo", they are placing my business on their boat, this is THE best advertising you can get, go for it Try my local company Tavy signs, tavistock
  13. Oh come on, making money out of you or your family, sheesh, I have jet skis on my other cards, one is an AquaX champ, he came over to me at the press conference in Docklands and we had a joke about the fact that he totalled his ski a week later, you are making too much of this My images have also been used in motor sports magazines and for your info another photo of mine was used by SIGMA in their magazine again Jos Ash, celebs, watch out Sigma
  14. In the USA ! And most people are not "major clothing manufacturers/retailers" most are one man bands like me, I have yet to ever, ever see this done or even discussed by any celeb relating to the use of a small business, and anyway it would start with a letter asking for the removal first which has to be ignored.
  15. Er google Face or Braun razors, British surf champ etc This is why I carry many different card for different events, surfing communities would know, I would not hand out a hill climb card at a surf event
  16. Incorrect, when celebs are in an open public place they are as free to photograph as anyone
  17. Why, would you worry about using a photo of tower bridge, that doesn't belong to you does it, or a shot of a car in the street !
  18. Totally disagree, business cards need to offer "impact", I not only have different sizes but as I shoot sports they convey "what" I do, and I have many different ones, for different events and have just ordered five more different ones covering Motocross, Powerboating and football. Believe me people keep my cards and they have proven great value, all are via vistaprint, the jetski one is standard card size, the others are 5x4 and the birds are on the back, people like "different", I also have larger ones I leave on seats at PR and conference meets It also helps to have a celeb on the cards, here I was shooting Joss Ash, Widemouth Bay, google him. But for god sake design your own, do not use the carp vistaprint pre sets add images of what YOU do
  19. For a Kodak DC150 I collect old cameras early digital
  20. Needed, please , any leads to finding one appreciated. Thanks
  21. He was a great chap, honest, spoke his mind and was exceedingly nice to everyone, and a real "gent", I miss him
  22. As a friend of the late Patrick Moore, I published a number of items for him, his first ever "who done it" book "Ancient Lights" only available from me, and Moon maps. I received the attached a while back asking for permission!!!, to use a map in a film, it was not until I read the circled part I laughed and refused. Talk about covering your ass.........
