  1. I'm sorry this is so late, the task of choosing the winners was only passed to me yesterday.

As always, some excellent work and it's not been easy to choose - however, here's my top three in no particular order.

Well done to the winners - no prizes, but an intense dollop of platinum kudos to each of ya!

JohnP - I just love the curve and reflection of the viaduct, the composition is just about perfect.

Hatter - The letterbox format works perfectly here. And I like the fact that we see the what's an obvious tourist honeypot on a typically British day.

Ryewolf - Steam, smoke, a great POV, bleak moorland and a cheeky peek from the driver . This is how a steam train image should look.

  2. I bet you were wondering if 'that weirdo from the northlands might like it'.

Well, I do - so brilliantly innovative that I had to watch it twice and then I called Lady Korkington away from her morning sherry in order that she could enjoy it, too.

I found the painting of the elderly man (near the end of the video) to be truly beautiful.

Thanks for that one, Mrs C, a superb find.

  3. I've no experience of this at all, John, so all I can do is wish you the very best once you've made your decision. And....

Even though your TIPF friends can't help physically, there's always a lot of moral support to be had on the forum.

  4. Jim Nix is someone I follow on YouTube, I like his tutorials and and I like his relaxed manner and I like his photography.

So here's one of Jim's Vlogs where he talks about sharing work and overcoming the fear or criticism.

The video is a little dark in places (it was filmed at dusk in Seattle), but it's the words that matter. It's well worth five minutes of your time.

I'm currently working on an image that will be called 'Backbone' and it's not the kind of thing I would normally post here. But after watching Jim's video, it might well make an appearance.

  5. Thanks, Gareth, this really has made my morning. Especially in a week when some really top notch images have been posted.

I spent Saturday night and Sunday morning taking explosive medication in preparation for a colonoscopy at hospital on Sunday afternoon. My weekend has been downright chuffin' miserable, but.........

This morning the sun is shining, I can eat and drink as normal and I have POTW - I think I might break into song.
