It's definately a Fieldfare a member of the Thrush family, they are winter visitors that breed in north and eastern europe, mostly seen in flocks often in the company of Redwings another member of the Thrush family. Their call is a harsh... chack...chack...chack. They feed on berries and fallen fruit like apples, where I lived prior to last April there were flocks of several hundred each winter feeding on cider apples that had fallen and hadn't been gathered up. Lee... if you have any apples especially a bit over ripe this bird will love them. I've never seen them in gardens myself, I think it's probably quite hungry.

doesn't look like he is any great loss to society and it saves you and the victims the stress of a trial
I had a phone call from the police about an hour ago to let me know there will be no trial and I won't be needed, I suppose they have to let all witnesses etc know in case they don't find out via the local news.
-
So you were supposed to be?
After I gave the police a statement last July I received a phone call from them in August advising me I would be required in court as a witness next April, I guess now the bloke who commited the offence has topped himself there will be no trial. .. I can't say I'm sorry really, I wasn't looking forward to it much anyway.

............................... in court as a witness to an attempted murder next door.

Regardless of all the debate... I'm damn glad I was able to visit this fantastic place and enjoy it as it is now, I will never ever forget my visit there and I look forward to visiting some other similar places before either they are ruined or I pop my clogs... At 66 years old I need to get on with it, I was the oldest member of the group on this trip.

Post a link and most people, me included, won't go further. Tell us what it's about and maybe we'll care.
The subject matter is in the first sentence... perhaps you couldn't be bothered to read that either.
Most of what I post doesn't get much comment... I'm used to it and getting to the point of thinking why do I bother.

Dave... I agree with you up to a point but as long as oil can be drilled for cheaper than utilising other forms of energy then nothing will change. It doesn't do away with the fact the human race will bring about it's own destruction and that process will happen eventually for sure.
-
I take it this was of no concern to anyone judging by the number of views and only one comment... I realise that there is nothing we can do about it but I find hard to accept what is happening to our planet. Creatures are dying out at an alarming rate and the human population is increasing at an alarming rate also... but not for much longer... nature is going to give the human race a huge bite on the ass soon.

I am glad I visited the Amazon Basin of Ecuador in February 2011, it looks like the oil companies are set to destroy even more than they already have in the Amazon.
Watch the video in this news report.

Just a few shots I took on my visit.
This is Sani Lodge where I stayed for five days.
Out for a days birding with a local guide.

I recently purchased a very expensive pair of Swarovski binoculars and a Sigma ringflash, I did the usual checking of prices on the internet and I eventually purchased both from Clifton Cameras in the small Gloucestershire town of Dursley... not too far from me with very friendly and well informed staff. The cost of both items was very similar to the cheapest internet prices and Clifton Cameras do online sales as well for anyone who can't visit their shop. I made a day of it on both occasions by also visiting the nearby Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge where I am a member.

I'm sorry Robin, I hope something good comes your way soon. I'm glad I've been self employed since 1977, I worked as a self employed electrician until 2000 and then I started doing sameday courier work. I still do this part time, I will do this year and then maybe retire. Once you have been self employed you would never become employed again, is there anything you could do on a self employed basis?

You need to paste the video URL into the box then click download
I pasted the URL and when I click download I get the error message.
-
Phil... I downloaded this but I couldn't get it to work, I kept getting a box saying 'No video found to download' or words to that effect. I've uninstalled it now, something changed my browser as well, so I had to get Google back. I've watched this video twice...
-
Possibly a dumb question... is there any way of downloading this (or anything from YouTube) and saving it on my pc?

Thank you Dave... I've saved it to my favourites.

I've downloaded CS2 & Elements... not sure how I will get on with it though... I've only ever used PaintShop Pro 8 & 9.
Anyway... thanks Tina.

I believe my 60D has the same sensor as the 7D and I can't say noise levels are a problem, I can't remember going over 1600 iso so maybe that's the answer.

Take better macro's... well maybe...

I finally made up my mind and got a Samsung 700Z5C Laptop and I'm really chuffed with it and I seem to have taken to Windows 7 like a duck to water. I'm still putting all my stuff onto it, with a 1TB hard drive I don't think it will be filled to capacity for quite a while...
