  1. Thank you Dee!

Penstomens are one of my favourite flowers because they are not only beautiful but Bumblebees love them, I love watching the bees crawl right inside the flower out of sight and then reverse out again... it doesn't take much to entertain me... ?

  2. I have a passion for Penstomens and so do Bumblebees, I would never be without them in my little garden, after about three years they can start to get a bit woody and it's best to have new ones. I never buy any new plants that I can grow from cuttings, about two weeks ago I sorted out some tender tips from my variety of Penstomens (I have several different types and colours) from which to take cuttings. I find the best way to get them rooted is to just put them in a jam jar of water, you can then see which ones are rooting. I took ten cuttings and this morning I potted eight of them and they will stay in my conservatory until early spring., I'm sure the remaining two will root soon.

    These are still in flower.

  3. I took my Canon 60D out into my little garden this afternoon, it's the first time it's seen the light of day in almost a year.

  4. It's a job to know what to say Polly... I bet you will be ready next time!

I guess that's the problem with having several cameras, I have sold nearly all my DSLR gear and for all the use my Canon 60D gets I may as well let that go too. It's so much easier having the FZ2000, it's always on my desk when I am at home and I have four batteries which I keep charged. If something appeared in my garden I would be ready for it.

  5. Considering the amount of heavy rain we have had recently my Begonias are still looking OK, I have had to keep taking damaged flowers off that would have lasted longer.

Gosh John ... that takes me back .... and I wouldn’t have been able to say that wasn’t Hank Marvin playing ...   I’m from the same era so that really resonates  and brings back a lot of memories ...

Listen to some of his other numbers Polly!

That  tripod looks the business John ..what sort of weight will it hold .. it says 75 kg!...I have a Velbon CX mini with a threeway head portable tripod that I have found very useful but I do like the 360  degree ball head on this one ..  Looks ideal for  some close up work ...

Polly... weight won't be a problem for me as I will only be using it with my FZ2000 camera and that doesn't have a huge great lens stuck out in front, I have always liked macro photography so this tripod will be just the job. I used it yesterday to take that tin opener shot I posted, in due course I am going to try some landscape shots taken from just above ground level. This little tripod goes into my small rucksack no problem.

  8. I'm adding some new gear to my arsenal, the first one arrived yesterday... a tabletop tripod! I can't speak highly enough about it, it's really well made. extremely solid with no plastic parts.  https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07RRVYCQX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This item is on it's way and should arrive next week. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009SJ7UWU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

  9. I was sat in my conservatory and it was raining but still quite bright, I thought this Penstemon looked really nice so I grabbed a shot. I think it turned out quite well considering the shot was taken through double glazing and the plant was about fifteen feet away.
