  1. I just did the scariest thing I will do today... hopefully. I cleaned the sensor of my Canon 60D, I used a Digi-Pad and Eclipse E2 cleaning fluid. I took a couple of test shots of the sky through an open window at f22 and all looks clear now... phew. I guess I'll only find out for sure if the sensor is clean next time I use the camera for real.
  2. Anyone ever used one of these: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/LensPen-SensorKlear-Review.aspx I use LensPen lens and filter cleaners and they are very good, I've got a couple of dust specks on the sensor of my camera and the in-built sensor cleaner hasn't fixed the problem. I have used Digi-pads and Eclipse fluid on my DSLR sensor in the past (not on my present camera) and I'm not keen on that method.
  3. I read this thread and was going to reply after I'd made a cuppa and Phil has taken the words from my mouth. That must have been about the time I joined the original forum.

    Footprint.

Many years ago I used to go shooting (not deer), rabbits, pheasants etc. I gave that up years ago and only shoot with my camera now... hunter turned conservationist so to speak.

    Footprint.

I didn't know there were Muntjac Deer in the woods near me... but I do now. I have mixed feeling about these little Asian invaders... cute yes... destructive though considering they are only about 20 inches tall.
  6. I just thought I'd refresh things, don't let this get forgotten and lost in the archives.
  7. These are amazing macro shots... but having said that there is no way that they could be taken in out the field. Obviously I appreciate the time and skill involved in setting up shots like these but it's not the way I like to take macros. I would only ever take live insects that are free to buzz off at any time and in many ways I consider it more skillful as there are often only seconds to get the shot and not all the time in the world like taking set up shots with carefully positioned lighting etc. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/earthpicturegalleries/9927514/Bug-eyed-macro-photographs-of-insects-by-Ireneusz-Irass-Waledzik.html
  8. Thanks Richard... I remember the evening when I tried to set up an event I was starting a migraine and I gave up. Unfortunately I've just had to take a tablet as there's one trying to get me now.
  9. Richard... I tried to work out to set up a calendar on Doodle, but I couldn't work out how. If it's not too much trouble please can you PM me some instructions... if it's a lot of trouble to you or it's too complicated for a brainless twit don't bother...
  10. I'm available pretty much any weekend.
  11. I've got a Peugeot Partner Tepee 1.6 HDI... Peugeot figures say 50.4 mpg, I have worked out the average fuel consumption over at least 1,000 miles several times and the lowest mpg I've recorded is 49.5 and the the best mpg is 52.3.
  12. Knock Knock... anybody there...

  14. I sure did Kobione. To think there were only a few pairs left in Mid Wales in the early 1970's due to years of persecution by farmers and gamekeepers who falsely blamed them for killing game and lambs etc. Redkites are primarily scavengers, they do feed on living prey too but it's usually unhealthy and close to death anyway. From scientific research at Nottingham University we do know that the entire population of Redkites in 1977 emanated from just one female bird. Some years ago Redkites were brought over from Spain and a breeding and release program was started, today there are estimated to be around 600 breeding pairs in Wales and many are now moving into England where 200 years ago they were quite common.
  15. I went for a 6 mile walk this morning and I was extremely surprised and happy to see six Redkites, although I've seen and photographed them many times in Wales, this is the first time I have seen them on my home patch. Some members of my local birding club have seen them in Herefordshire but further west near the Welsh border. Believe it or not I have waited years to see them in the Ledbury area where I live, they were not close enough to take photos so I just observed them with binoculars circling for a good 10 minutes.
  16. I wonder if this will be successful second time around. http://www.express.co.uk/finance/city/387546/Jessops-has-resurgence-as-Dragon-s-Den-Peter-Jones-opens-six-new-stores?google_editors_picks=true

  18. Makes one wonder if they will succeed in rearing any young this so called spring.

    Dead Puffins.

They are suffering enough without this bad weather, they eat mainly Sand eels and they are disappearing too.
  20. This is very sad. http://news.stv.tv/north/219104-puffin-wreck-is-worst-in-50-years-say-rspb-scotland/
  21. I've seen that screen after a timeout several times and not just today. As I said before I usually sign in from my favourites without problems, if I see that screen I then close it and go to my favourites, delete the bookmark. I then Google the forum and assuming the page loads OK... it's often slow loading... once signed in I save the forum to my favourites again. I also delete cookies. Since mid afternoon everything has been working for me better than it has for ages.
  22. Apart from being a bit slow the forum is working OK now.
  23. I am definitely logging in correctly, I even deleted the forum from my favourites and then when I was correctly signed in I then saved to favourites again. I also deleted cookies.
