Cracking shots! I know you said these were pre-covid; do you know if it’s still worth visiting Mildenhall? Lots of fond memories for me of airshows when I was a kid, but I’ve read different things about how much activity I’d be likely to see if I went now…

Thank you, Mildenhall along with RAF Brize Norton have all sorts flying in and out 24/7 and the 4 Ospreys based here in the UK are at Mildenhall   The USAF dont mind even like spotters around there bases as long as they behave and dont climb up fences or prop ladders on them as for mildenhan its well worth a visit i do camp there for 3 days and flit between there and Lakenheath just a few miles waay i stop in a spot known as "Johns field" he has room for half a dozem or so campers caravans tents etc he is right next to the fence and has a large low loadwe trailer decked out for spotters to get on and see over fence there are toilets etc charges £2  per day visits just drop it in honesty box with car reg on envelope or aabout £6 per night for a tent. Havent camped since covid but have had several day visits usually go to Lakenheath till about 3 in afternoon then over to Mildenhall for a few afternoon/evening hours then chippy then home tis a long day but always busy and easy to

I don't mind suffering for my art, but I draw the line at dying for it.  Minus  -20 degrees?  Best viewed at 28 degrees C, preferably with a cup of tea and biscuit.  😜

    Cracking imag, BTW.

Oh there was plenty of hot tea and beverages we do pack mini cookers tea bags milk and food i hate flasks so a fresh brew is always my way to go clothing wise very good hiiking gear and good waterproofs and believe it or not you do keep warm I left my 7D with a 70-300mm f4L is out on the rocks during heavy snow fluuries and rain up there many times and it still works perfect to this day If you all remember the Herc i took in the snow that was this day Was a good day the yanks came in the wrong way ( new batch of pilots ) but yeh we hide from wind behind rocks was then around minus 12 and we were all comfortable but ey the views up there anytime of the year are awesome so planes are a bonus

  3. Pre Covid visit. RAF Mildenhall used by the USAF a selection of some of the daily traffic ranging from fuel tanker Hercules Osprey Rivet Joint (black and grey) 747  and the awesome C5 Galaxy now the largest plane in the world

  4. Ok I’ve finally got it clean and now it has my 100-400 on and that’s going to stay on for the forseaable, as for my landscape lens im putting it on an older crop bodies so I can see if there is any issues, I’ve had a good look inside rear of both lens with magnifying glass and cannot see any so hopefully things should be fine. Thanks again for the tips @Fogey

Hmmm!  I have heard of what is termed creeping fungal growth, where condensation has turned to fungi in the lens.

Start at the beginning.  Take the lens off the camera and take a shot of the sky.  This will determine whether the bunnies are on the sensor.  If they are then clean the sensor, maybe professionally.

If the sensor is clear, then suspect the lens.  If there is dust getting into your lens, I would recommend getting the dust removed professionally, unless you feel competent taking the lens apart to clean it yourself.  Look Here

This might be a case of and/or sensor and lens.

If it is fungal growth, then look here.

I always make sure my camera and lenses are sat on a bed of silica gel crystals..............I always allow the temperature surrounding my camera and lenses to stabilise with the outside temperature before using the camera, to avoid condensation, which will make any dust bunnies very sticky.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks i will ckeck lenses but there are 2 i been using on this full frame camera and also on the crop camera none have shown on crop, and non of my gear has been out in the wet this year or even in high humidity they always live in the either camera bag or on shelf in the lounge we dont have any moisture issues in the house and none of Jayne gear has been affected

  6. Im now getting very fedup of these things just proccessed an image and spotted one but wasnt too sure as it could have been something on water, Done my usuall test shot f22 of hazy sky and bloody loads again. Just dont know what to do ive only swapped the lens over once since last clean and used a blower as well bloing first inside lens then body as soon as other lens taken off. counted 47 of them

Anyone got any idea what's going on
