It certainly is a fine example of a Cistercian Monastery from c 1100 and amazingly wasn't completely destroyed during the reign of Henry VIII as a result of the Dissolution of the Monasteries. Thomas Cromwell, who it seems was the instigator, has a lot to answer for ! I have never visited it but recall seeing a painting of it by JMW Turner. I must put it on my "places to see" list .
It certainly looks like the Monks are haunting the place though David ..
Yes, you might have noticed that 13th century monks hadn't quite grasped the concept of the rule of thirds though, Polly.

We normally have zillions too but nothing doing so far. No slugs either. They are normally feasting on my hostas but the not so much as a nibble this year. Not much in the way of aphids either. And not a lot of squashed flies on my car number plate. It doesn't bode well.

Like the first one in particular David.
Me too. The sky was superb yesterday.

Lovely work - bags of atmosphere, esp No 2. Makes you want to know what is lurking in the shadows.

Great memories there for me too. Wester Ross is my favourite part of the country (except in midgey season) . In addition to the stunning landscape work, you have captured some fine cloud formations too.

That's one fine shot Karl - great work.

I really enjoyed that. I seem to recall you painting a picture of some sort of concrete jungle but these shots don't suggest that at all. I may do a similar exercise around here.

One that came up in my Youtube playlists this evening.
The Heimatdamich doing a cover of AC/DC Highway to Hell, started off quite well but had me in stitches 0.52 seconds in
Deliciously crackers!

This week there were some excellent macro shots from Paul, a lot a varied wildlife images from FUJI, Craig, Johntwo and SJR. There was a whole slew of great landscapes from Clicker, Rybear, Stravinsky. As usual there were some great portraits from FUJI.
A couple of worthy mentions Masked Robbery by Nikonmike and Wythall, Birmingham by Stravinsky
However, this weeks POTW goes to David and Thor's Cave, an interesting viewpoint and the processing reminded me of Ansel Adams.

It has two settings, one at 7 ps which is where I normally leave it but this sequence was at 10 ps - must remember to turn it back to seven! These were at 1/1000 of a sec.

Hopefully not to spoil any up coming pictures but to help out. I'm surprised no one has gone with the shortened word of the season which is what i thought David's picture was going to be.
The other ideas I had which I had thought of was various models of car start with X, as does a bulb within the headlights of certain cars. The shortened word for the season most definitely crossed my mind but I thought a lot of people would go with that so I allowed myself to be a bit creative with the brief!

Yes in a fairly unmemorable landscape, the sky is the star.
