  1. ditto. i abhor menus. chalk it up to ocd, but i'm not even a fan of those unlabled toggles/dials you'll find on some of the mirrorless cameras. i don't mind fn buttons, but for aperture and shutter speed (and iso if there's room) i prefer a dedicated ring/switch/dial/toggle.
  2. i'm no lighting expert so use at your own risk. try giving more separation between your subject and background, make sure your light isn't spilling onto the background. take a photo with ambient/available light, turn your studio lights off. if that's as dark as you want your background then add in your subject and lighting, just make sure that you don't light the background.
  3. very nicely done, well deserved!

    Hello

colin, welcome to tipf from another newcomer. they seem to be a friendly crowd so far.
  5. thanks bp, martyn, leon and chris. you guys sure do give a warm welcome around here.
  6. well done! guess the machine needed another quarter in the slot.
  7. but of course they do. at least i know it's never dull around here.
  8. thanks everyone! it's been an interesting first day to say the least.
  9. not sure if anyone is going to read this or if it will be lost in the buggy technology abyss that seemed to be going with the forum all day. anyway, i'm beth and i was told you guys don't bite, so this is hello. i'm a fuji fangirl from delaware (that is one of those pesky colonies).
