  1. Amazing the could just as easily be volcanic lava rock the way they have been frozen.

That's what I see! They look as though they are made of stone. That's better than 'gritty'.

Although number two is nice. Looks more natural than the others.

  2. Thank you. I can feel for you too. Only people who are animal lovers can really understand the bond between them and their pets.

My daughter also had to let her cat go to sleep just after Christmas.

I didn't rescue the ferrets myself but after adopting my first two, then another one and then another two, I started fostering for the lady who ran the rescue and rescued something like 7or 8 thousand over about 30 years.

Some biters amongst them who turned out so lovely after some one to one.U

I also had a couple come to me that had terminal illnesses, so I could take care of them while giving Rose the time to look after the thousands of ferrets that she rescued and found good homes for.

Along the way, I adopted Star (a tiny albino Jill) and the Angel who ended up being cage mates.

I think I am more upset that Angel went downhill so quickly and she had always been such a lively playful girl who was still fairly young at 4-1/2 years.

I was hoping that she would had a lot longer.

Such a shock under those circumstances.

    She knew she was loved though, I'm sure. {{{{{ }}}}}

  3. The only thing you could have done is to expose for the sunlit part of his coat by metering off it - that would have massively underexposed the rest, but you can always bring detail out of shadows using a half-decent image editor, even iPhoto.

It's a very tricky lighting situation, would flummox many of us, much of the time.

    |Thank You Leon.

I fiddled about with one of the other pics using Pixlr, but I wasn't taken with the end result

  4. I was at a Christmas collection for our charity yesterday.

It was a fabulous, sunny day and I got a lot of pics which which I was happy. Around 3pm the sun started to get low and was still very dazzling. I had gone inside the store to take a pic of Isaac. The sun was hitting his coat and it was dazzling. My shot of him is accurate in that he did look very bleached out in the sunshine. But it doesn't make for a good pic does it?

How should I have tackled this? My settings were f5.6 1/40 with an ISO of 200.

I know that I should have used ISO 100 which may have helped. Should I have closed down the aperture? What else could I have done?

Your advice would be welcomed please.
