I noticed this article on the net, interesting reading particularly after reading BP's positing on the Samsung

and the Hasselblad sounds a bit of a rip off which is a shame considering the name/pedigree they had

Big established names sell though BP and Colin, therefore badge engineering where makers have just adopted an off the shelf design from another manufacturer and had their own badge put on it has gone on for years. Usually it is at entry level when the premium makers wish to concentrate on higher end more lucrative products and so adopt one of the budget makers cameras or lenses off the shelf and just have it re-badged with lens mount changed, usually charging quite a bit more than you could buy the virtual same camera or lens under another name.

Some of Leica's cameras and lenses were made by Minolta. Tamron and Kiron etc have made kit lenses for camera firms that were just badged with the camera manufacturers name and usually sold dearer than if they had Tamron or Kiron names on them.
