This is actually an HDR. I struggled with the dynamic range so opted for 3 exposures at +2 and -2 stops around the best exposure. I used Photomatix to blend the images.

The shot is of one of many great shopping arcades of an older style that can be found in Paris.

It's a cracking composition, of a beautiful arcade.

May I make one observation? If I say that to me it looks "over HDR'd" you might raise your eyebrows as there is none of the surreal cr*p you so often see under that name. But I don't seem to see the depth of light and dark that I would expect. I think you've got your foreground and middle ground absolutely spot on, perfect. I just feel that as my eye is taken towards the vanishing point, it should get a bit darker thus providing a greater sense of 3D and depth. Do you get where I'm coming from?

But I'll say again - it's a cracking shot. :)

(As you allow it, I tried to drag your image to PS Elements to experiment, but it's caused my computer all kinds of problems. It's an ordinary JPEG, right?)

No problem at all with your observation Chris. If anything, I really appreciate that you have taken the time to provide such constructive feedback. I will use HDR where I struggle with the dynamic range. And whilst I try to keep things as "real" as possible, I am concious that I am trying to replicate what I think I saw. That may not be what I saw. :).

The image is a JPEG but a very low res version which may be the cause of the issue for your edit.

Many thanks for the feedback and for the positive comments.
