Remove colour cast

Cathy

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

I took some snaps of a friends granddaughter and I am finding it hard to remove the yellow from the images.

The room these were taken in has lots of gold furnishings etc and created the colour cast.

Any help on using photoshop or Lightroom for this would be very welcome.

Also I have three images I would like to print Is there a way I can make sure they are all the same colour?

Thank you

Cathy

That one looks fine to me - in either programme you can copy/paste settings from one image to another or even a group of others, you can also sync settings.

Hindsight I know but get a grey card and use it next time then use the WB colour picker on it to get a perfect setting to apply to the entire set.

What do you think of this?

If you like it, here's what I did, in Photoshop Elements :

1. In the Hue/Saturation dialogue, I selected Yellows, then changed the hue to something a bit bluer

2. In the Enhance > Colour menu, I selected Change Skin Tones dialogue, added some blush and warmed the temperature a bit (I had to click on the face first).

The original looks fine to me too - did you shoot in raw? It is easier to adjust the WB afterwards if you did?

You might like to try Photoshop

Image/

adjustments/

match colour/ click on 'neutralize' and use the 'fade' slider over to the right to suit

What a difference!

I have not tried these examples of colour correction and will have a play later this morning.

I find I get mad at myself as I can use a lot of things in both programmes but there are times like this when no matter what I tried the image got worse. I was draining most of the colour out of the image :(

Have googled the Lightroom way to save from the develop settings to copy to other pictures .I do spend ages doing each individual image so what a treat this is to learn and will now look at how to do it in photoshop.

Thank you so very much this is really helpful and I like both images!

Cathy :)

I don't know about you Cathy, but it was ages before I learned that you can use the Hue/Saturation sliders on individual colours (RGB and CMY), which makes it a lot easier to remove a particular colour cast. Before that, I'd used it as an overall general dialogue, which is fine for some things, but lacks subtlety.
