I forget that some auto setting resets camera to jpeg when going back to a manual setting. This has means lots of shots, taken as JPEGwhen I forget to go back to RAW, cant be 'perfected' without RAW data. What does JPEG stand for?

 

Joint Photographic Experts Group (who created the standard originally). Fuji posted an interesting B&H video recently from a guy who had converted to mirrorless cameras by and large, and also said he only shot JPEG now, as the quality is so high and has the advantage that - with enough care taken at shooting time - there is little or need for any PP work, as is necessary with RAW.
