Black Tailed Skimmer

Looks about right for ID to me :)

 

Although if you have a picture from the side, it might be worth checking for yellow patches along the sides of each segment. That would indicate the broad-bodied chaser rather than the black tailed skimmer, but in the absence of those, I'd agree with the skimmer.

The broad bodied chaser also looks a bit 'flattened', but that's not really possible to tell from this angle.

Thanks Bugs, but in the Broad Bodied Chaser isn't it only the tip of the abdomen that's black?. Thats what made me think it was the Skimmer

Yes, normally it's only segment 9 but there is a bit of variation, that's why it's helpful to have more than one marker for any identification.

 

It would be unusual for 7,8 and 9 to be black as in your picture (a very good one btw).
