At Wimpole estate, there is a lawn which has a lot of species tulips growing in it. They aren't the big showy ones, much smaller and they do tend to start flowering early.

This particular tulip was probably only about 4 or 5 inches tall, and a rather large bumble bee was busy at work, so I got two for one :)

Nice one..

 

I went to Wimpole on Friday...to flipping packed for me, turned round and drove straight back out.

I know what you mean. I was there at opening time (1000) and by 1145 the overflow carpark was full and cars were queued along the drive and out onto the road. Always worth getting somewhere like that early, and it also helps if they know you by name :)
