Realising (and exceeding) your vision

I have made a number of images of Ratcliffe on Soar power station, it has become a fascination of mine and doubtless I shall make many more. At the end of January 2014 I came across a view that made me pull the car over to take an exposure from the opposite side of the A453. Steam issuing from the cooling towers was drifting over those further back while a plume issued from the chimney; hanging low over the towers at it drifted away. There was thick cloud to compliment this but, as a result, very flat light. I immediately recognised the possibilities and the fact that a better opportunity, allowing less post processing, was unlikely to happen.

It's amazing how different you can make the same image look with editing.
