Kendal Castle

This is my first try out of my new Sigma 10 - 20mm zoom with a walk around Kendal Castle. I've got a lot to learn if I'm going to get the best out of this lens! There was quite a bit of chromatic aberration, probably not helped by shooting directly into the sun, but it was easily corrected in Lightroom. Loving the depth of field I can get with the close foreground objects. I need to learn not to crop too tightly in the viewfinder so I have room to correct the verticals in PP. #5 in this set was a deliberate attempt the bend the verticals, the trees on the left naturally lean in, so I wanted to balance that with the ruins; just playing about really. I also have to watch out for my own shadow that has a habit of creeping into the shot.

Thankyou guys, as always you are too kind! I love what this wide view does to the clouds, it kinda stretches them and makes them into leading lines into the picture. It all feels really strange, I can't get over how close I can stand to the subject and it still looks a mile away.

Shot 5

Martyn I have a 10-22 and a 17-40 I use on full frame. For this sort of shot can I suggest you frame with the buildings etc. central then point the camera up to get a second shot with the necessary sky to stitch afterwards. (If you want vertical verticals of course).

Same thing if you want buildings at edge of frame in pano.

Good work with the lens, some fine shots contre-jour.
