I'm thinking (like the reviewer) "Ah, but it won't zoom right in like my Lumix FZ."

Then I thought "Oh, but it's got a 1" sensor. If cropped hard, it would still beat the crappy little sensor on my camera."

Then I thought "Oh, but my camera will show the far-off details right there in the viewfinder."

So then it hit me. WHY DON'T CAMERAS LIKE THAT SONY ZOOM FURTHER THAN THE LENS??? In other words, once you've got to 200mm, you hit a switch and the camera will crop from the sensor and take you - in the viewfinder - much further than the lens can. Or even, like the EZ option on the Lumix cameras, will let you shoot the cropped picture so that what you see is what you actually get. Yes, I know you can't have full resolution in those circumstances, but with a sensor that size, it doesn't really matter if you get 500mm equivalent but only 8 MP.

£1000? If they brought in my idea of viewfinder zooming/cropping in the next iteration, I'd pay that. Oh, and if it wasn't too heavy.

(Excuse the repeat post, but Phil pointed out my orange text is unreadable with the Xmas skin, and it's too late to edit it to black.)

Tina - you make a good point, but a 1" sensor is soooooo much bigger than the tiny little thing in our FZs. I'm amazed they produce pictures as good as they do, to be honest.

I found an easy way of reading your orange text on the Christmas skin. I just highlight it in blue and it then changes the background of the text box to blue and the writing to while. Just click on an empty space to return to normal.
