Sunrise

I got up early this morning and took a trip to the coast to take some photos of the sunrise.

Could't find a great spot (composition wise) and the clouds were low and thick by the time the sun came up, but I am quite happy with this 1.

Thanks Heather its a first attempt I am really pleased with the subtle details and I think the lens flare really works, of course I took loads before the sun actually came up and disappeared behind the clouds, and this is one of my favourites.

Just for interest here are the settings I used:

Nikon D7100 with Nikkor 55-300mm zoom @ 55mm

F/22 (exp bias +0.7) 1/200 sec

Next time I will experiment with polarising an ND filters and see how they look.

Thanks Tina :)

Here's the same shot in a narrow crop. I think it works a lot better, comments appreciated :)

I'm not so sure. I really like the complete rays of the sun disappearing into a black void in your original. However, the birds are more prominent in the second shot.
