After my baby bump attempts last week my Friend Chris had a go on his own, after a couple of hours cursing and swearing he came up with this

a fair effort for someone with no idea, I like it, but the date stamp, the background ect had to go.

I had a play in CS2 and here's my edit....

I couldn't get the end of his little finger right!!  but otherwise I'm pretty happy with it

Shame about his finger. Pity you couldn't have selected and copied the good finger, then reversed it onto the bad finger.
I've never tried it, but I have read about it being done.

Maybe you could use the ( I think it's called the liquid tool,) or the distort tool to get it to fit properly.
I think you did a pretty good job otherwise, Mr W.

May be they intended that the date stamp was to be a reminder of when the photo was taken, especially when showing it to the child later on in life.

It's a feature I'd be glad of right now, as I'm scanning prints from the 80s and 90s and some I can't remember 'when' or 'where' at all! I wish there was a way to show it unobtrusively though, say on a border when printing, rather than on the picture itself.
