this is spooky...i took one nearly the same as this one as well...

 

really liking this rob, wonder if you gave it a bit of the old hdr treatment to bring that sky out.

What lens did you use Rob as the verticals are starting to converge

My guess would be either the wide end of a zoom or a wide prime

It just spoils it for me with the lights falling into the thames but without them there is no shot

I used the Canon 16-35mm f2.8 L USM lens at a focal lenth of 16mm Many thanks as I am picking some great hints & suggestions from people like you on this forum & all comments are greatly appreciated.

That's a cracking lens for detail but I've found that anything under about 20mm is always going to give some distortion to parallels. Not always a problem and sometimes it's even desirable, but you do need to be aware of it when post processing. There are times when you will want to emphasise the effect rather than straighten or leave it and it's purely down to what you're trying to achieve :)

 

p.s. I do like the viewpoint, the composition is very well done.
