Transferring photos from PC to USB - Help!

Beth

Recommended Posts

Hi - I'm enquiring on behalf of a friend and hope someone can offer some advice....ta.

Basically, this is the information I have been given, so if you need to query anything, just fire away.

Photos have already been copied from camera to pc (operating system is Windows 7). They are contained in different albums and only one or two albums are to be copied.

Programme told to copy from pc and asked to which designated file the pics should go.

The drive for USB is selected - tried to copy and paste, but this only allows it being done individually.

If the pics are highlighted and dragged - it converts them into shortcuts.

Existing OS was Windows XP Home and there were no issues when trying to transfer to a USB.....all pics transferred in one go.  Existing OS no longer in use.

I know this isn't photography related, but I would be ever so grateful for any help. Fank ewe lovelies. :yes

slight differences in different software,

what I do is-

on usb create a new folder called 'photos'

in software highlight the photos I want to transfer, click photo and then 'ctrl+A' if I want them all or ctrl and left click each photo I want.

when done I 'export' or 'save as' (depends on what software i'm using) to the usb folder.

some will allow a click and drag to usb.

unconverted raw files may not be allowed to transfer until they have been converted.

hope this is of some help.

geoff
