Gull on the rocks

I've spent a fair bit of time trying to get the most out of this shot. I let it rest while I had my tea then came back to it. Please let me know what you think of the processing.

I think the processing / picture is very good indeed. But if it was mine, I'd be tempted to clone out the distant coastline and have the sky go right down to the sea.

Colin and Chris, thank you for your comments, I really appreciate your input. The reason I posted this pic is because, although I was pleased with the original photo for what it was, I wanted to use it as a trial picture. I used Nikon's NX2 software to try and bring out the best in it.

I have now used a free trial version of Adobe Lightroom 5  to try the same exercise again with the same photo. Despite being totally new to the software I feel I have done a better job in the same time I did with the first one. Once again I would value your opinions.

The drastic darkening of highlights has given the picture a whole different feel. Not better, not worse, just different. Set against the first, I do see that it was bit "high" and needed some treatment. However, I still wonder how much difference it would make if you cloned out the far coastline!
