Bottoms on the Sand

Every day, the tide rolls in and picks up these tiny craft; then it rolls back out again and deposits them in different positions and at different angles. Every time I drive past I am drawn to the patterns of colour and light. One day the masts all lean to the right, the next day to the left. Even if I don't have time to stop and take photographs (of which I already have hundreds) I slow down and look longingly!

I especially like #2 and #3 - there's strong depth from foreground to background. To join them and make a great little set, I'd crop #1 quite severely so the boats fill the frame (you've got the context in the other two shots).

a wonderful and colourful set Martyn, I think maybe with no.2 you could have use the 'green islands' better to pull your eye in but, hey who cares - I'll take them as they are (although I think the idea of a close crop on 1 is worth a shot)

Hey Martyn - Love all 3.......for me #2, because I'm drawn more to the fact that the two boats and resting/leaning in opposite directions and the interesting little patterns making their way up to the boats.  Shown more in this image than the others. Thumbs up Martyn.

They are the sort on scenes that I could imagine an artist depicting on canvas. Especially No.1 and No.3.

Yes, I myself prefer the closer view of the boats, but maybe this is a case of 'keep them both'?
