I've been trying to think of which lenes to take with me on holiday as I would like to take my Nikon D3200 this year.
I was planning on taking the 55-200VR and also my Sigma 70-300mm, but as my arthritis is getting worse and I get pain in most of my joints, I have decided to get this lens as I am using the D3200 more and more just lately...

As we travel by train and have some changes to make, I am trying to cut down as much as I can without having to leave my main camera behind in favour of one oof the other smaller ones.
I will have my little compact for really wide angle shots and for when I don't want to carry the heavier camera.

It looks to be about the same weight as the Sigma on it's own without taking into account the other lens.
You don't realize how the weight builds up when you add extra lenses to your bag, do you? and I thought this would help.

What do you think?

Thanks, Colin.

I should have a circular polarisor to fit this lens as the Sigma is the same filter size. I'll check that tomorrow.

I will put the 55-200 on the Nikon D3000 ready for use at other times and situations, as it will save me from changing lenses on the D3200.

The Nikkor, I think is a cheaper lens made by Nikon as it's on the Nikon website with all the specs.
I was re-directed via a link on Buyacamera to check the details..
I have used them before and they are very good.

The new lens arrived early this morning. Very quick from http://www.buyacamera.co.uk
I only ordered it late on Sunday night
I have it on the camera and played about with it in the house, but I need to get out and give it a good testing.

So far, the pics that I just shot quickly looked pretty good, but you can't really tell until you test a new item properly, can you?
It is so quiet that I can hardly hear a sound and it focus's closer than it states in the specs,
It's maybe about as heavy as the 70-300 Sigma but the range from 55-300 is really going to suit me, and it will be an almost permanent fixture on the D3200.

I bought a hand grip which I have managed to thread through the strap holders without taking the neck strap off. I think I am going to need it. lol.

It's been dull with rain on and off today, and I've been washing and sorting stuff out for the holidays, so I haven't been outside with it yet, but I am really looking forward to trying it out.

Not sure about the great pics, Martyn lol, but I will certainly enjoy it with the extra scope without having to change lenses.
I also found my set of 58mm close-up filters, and a polariser yesterday. My Raynox with fit too , so no extra expense.
I'm hoping it will be nice tomorrow so we can get out for a while.
