Unknown brown spider

Recommended Posts

Please excuse the quality, these were taken at extreme range and are almost all crop, hardly any resizing.

I was walking beside a stream and spotted this spider on top of a piece of floating reed. I don't think I've ever seen a  spider like it, and on looking closer it seemed to be wet.

Any ideas what kind of spider it is?

I don't think so, that one sounds as if it's a landlubber as well as being mainly nocturnal. This was in the middle of a stream and looking rather wet.

Looks like the kind of thing Kobione would be more familiar with, not British looking at all.

It does look a bit strange, but the picture was taken at Wicken Fen in Cambridgeshire two days ago
