Sorry Fuzzy I'm usually working on Saturdays and I can't see me making Sunday either.

Too far for me as I'm on call next weekend and 150miles is just too far for a day trip

Unfortunatly its invite only as its an active base

We have to be invited then register any vehicles (reg and colour) and present our passports or accepted ID's only then will they let us in

 

They invite local areo clubs and usually there is a hurricane We have had a pusher bi plane

Up to 300 turn up land have cake and biscuits and buzz off again

We are just a bit of extra entertainment All in our 40's gear, picnicing and having the odd dance

They are a really appreciative lot and its very relaxing as its laid back

Fuzzy are you on the College Hall side of the base or Airside? I can usually get a permit for College hall / Lighter Than Air Road side of the camp. But these days getting anywhere near the runway side is all but impossible.

they set up bivawaks (however you spell it) 50 ft from the taxi runway just to the side  of the hangers on the grass this is where we set up our 40's picnic

 

You can get quite close within reason to the planes
