Unknown moth for ID

When I first saw this it looked just like a bird dropping on a leaf, but a second look made me realise it's actually a moth. About 15mm wingspan.

It's a lovely moth.

Nearest I can get bugs is black arch or dark arch but the group is so varied and most shots are with the wings in delta shape

 

Nearest picture was in my old observer book of moths

 

Appears late july /august (but this year is wiered) and is only supposed to fly at night

Thanks Fuzzy, I'm a bit dubious, the same as you. Despite the colour looking about right on some of the pictures, the wings were definitely not delta shaped (it was flat on a leaf) and the body doesn't look right on the pictures I found which showed it.
