Whitburn council in their wisdom and I use the word for want of a better, have decided that huge strips along the entire coastline and some of the fields should be dug up, turned over and have wild flowers planted on them.

Why I have no idea, possibly because they have so much money they don't know what to do with it all but they could just be me having a rant. Personally I'd have used the money to remove parking charges along the coast so people would actually come and visit, enjoy the area and spend a bit of their cash in local businesses but what do I know?

The results - well so far as you can see the "wild flower beds" are a wasteland of mud while the 'natural' areas are awash with colour, life and.....well wild flowers as it happens.

Is it something to do with Hrh charlie wanting meadows everywhere

When its in full bloom I hope you will take the same shot again to see if it was worth it

As an aside buy a box of wild flower seed and if you see a piece of waste ground give it a good sprinkling, abit of natural colour in town is always appreciated (if it isnt blame the birds)

similar thing happening in parts of the Lincolnshire Wolds - meanwhile the rest of us are now being charged extra £25 per year to have our garden waste bins emptied...

... cue fly tipping on meadow land!
