End in sight of 35mm film?

As probably all of you know 35mm film was not originally made for still cameras, but cine cameras and projectors, which is why unlike other camera films it has rows of sprocket holes along the edges. Oscar Barnak first made a camera to take 35mm cine film run horizontally as he did not want to carry a medium format camera with him on his hikes and that camera became the Leica rangefinder camera..

However the cinema world has said they are stopping using film anymore and the manufacturers now say they will stop making 35mm cine film, so how this will affect the continued production of 35mm still film is open to question.  Can it too continue without the much larger throughput of the film industry, or slowly die a death since none of the major manufacturers now make stills cameras anymore and fewer professionals are shooting film also?
