While you’re here ... and sorry to go off topic ... As I mentioned to you in a  pm ... I am picking up the 400 mm lens from Sara at Cambrian  photography next week... and trying to decide if the 1.4 converter is worth having .. I have not used a converter before but have heard / read that some can cause a  softening of the focus and some vignetting.. I wondered if you had any experience of this with this lens ....?

I'm sorry but I don't have a converter, nor have I heard about the problem.

Polly - What is the lowest f.number on the lens you are buying? Converters are ok but you can find they really need good light to work without dropping at least 2 stops.
