1940s beauty

i really struggled this weekend with the light. the sun was so bright. the 1940s function we went to was full of lovely people, fuji would have had a field day. this lady was so lovely and really looked the part, and i so wanted to get a nice snap of her....but what with the sun, shadows, and people everywhere i was finding it very hard going. the semi pro photographer who i made friends with told me never to go out to these events without my flash...lesson learnt then!

Tut tut, forgetting to shoot RAW  :wacko:

 

Try under exposing by around 1/3 it should help with bright conditions. When in ACR I always hit the Auto button to see how the software thinks the shot should look, even if I choose to ignore it, I can then play around with exposure etc. from there.

I forgot to mention I bracket all my shots what it says -1/2 -1 which helps greatly (except for murphies law "the one that is the best composed is also the one thats worst exposed") As my canon favours over to under anyway
