Re-Sizing An Image For Web Posting Using Photoshop

Your masterpiece is finished and ready to be marvelled at by the world, the first thing you need to do is re-size the image.

 

In Photoshop open the image and click Image>Image Size

In the pop-up box enter your desired size, ensure Constrain Proportions is checked to maintain the aspect ratio.

As a general guide for posting here on TIPF; Landscape orientated images should be around 1024 pixels wide and around 800 pixels wide for portrait orientation.

Click OK.

Now click File>Save for Web...

In the next box you have control of the image file size.

Uploading to TIPF has the following limitations; Members 300KB - Contributors - 500KB

Adjust the Quality slider (top right) until the file size (shown bottom left) is just under the required limit and click Save.

Remember, give your file a different name to the original (option in next window) or save in a separate location otherwise your original file will be overwritten and lost!
