Rucksack

I use  a Lowepro nova 4 AW shoulder bag when i'm out and about. never had any bother with it, easy access to equipment etc and large enough for the equipment I like to carry around.

I'm now thinking of getting a decent size rucksack, this will only be used for when I shoot weddings, events etc. I want one where I can get the camera, various lenses, couple of flashes etc into it with no bother, might not use all the equipment but nice to know it's there if I do need it. Also carry a tripod and sometimes the monopod, I have these in a case which is carried over the shoulder.

Does anybody use a rucksack and can recommend any so I can have a look and compare, as it will not be used as an everyday bag I don't want to pay the earth but it has to be sturdy and smart enough and looks the part.

we have two we have a Tamrac expedition 5 x and the 8x the 8 is used for when we go on holiday as it holds loads the 5 is good for a day out when you are not sure what you are going to be shooting. Also have a small bag that just holds both cameras and spare batteries etc for when you know what you are going to shoot

Sticking with Lowepro I've had a Trekker AW for years. Its waterproof, solidly built, holds loads of gear without getting too enormous and you can fit a small to medium tripod to it.

The newer version is called the Pro Runner 300.

Plus side of a backpack is you get a lot of gear in for your money, you can lay it down and once opened everything is sitting there ready to use and they're comfortable even when very full - down sides are you have to keep taking it on and off which isn't quick and when you lay it on wet grass and put it back on you get wet. You can get Flip-Side style bags that swing round your front but personally I find them a pain to use and you get much less gear in them.

If your just using it for weddings think about a hard case. Very solid, very secure, excellent access and if you need a little extra height to shoot a crowd from a different angle you can stand on them. I used one for years (still have it somewhere) and the standing-on-it bit was brilliant.
