Adobe keeps bringing out new versions of it's software, but unless you need the new features do you need to keep upgrading?  I found these comparisons for the different versions of Adobe products on the Web:-

Of course if you want to use the latest version of Adobe Camera RAW which covers a new camera it may not be compatible with the older versions of Adobe software so you may need to do any RAW conversions in other software first.
