Screen Calibration

Recommended Posts

Hi Gang,

Had a few discussions with a few mates that all tog lol, and screen calibration came up, so rather than say about the differences, I posted the Spyder Pro to each of them, still waiting for it back lol

So had a thought if anyone bothers to still calibrate, or use the Calibration in Photoshop etc etc..

Also I could always post it to members on here if they wanted to try it and see if it makes any difference to their Screens ??

Cheers

Steve

I have a Spyder and calibrated regularly, the screen on my old laptop was pretty dire, but since buying the Surface Book last year I haven't bothered as I know it's as near spot on as it can be, all my test prints have come back more than satisfactory.

My iMac is still quite new and come calibrated from Apple so I'm confident the colours I'm seeing are accurate. I have viewed my images on other screens and if they're good screens they look as I'd expect.

Thats a generous offer though Steve and I know some members would benefit greatly from having their screens tweaked.

I calibrate my own Mac screen (it's got a passable calibration utility) but I always calibrate 'warmer' towards yellow and green, as to me all computer displays look too much red/blue. In the end, it's what I see that matters, though there are plenty here that will pick a fight with me over this issue!!!

I wouldn't disagree with you at all, as long as you're happy with how your images look on your screen that's fine, trouble is, you're no longer qualified to comment on the colours of posted images. Other members may be using a calibrated monitor, or they may not, either way their image will look totally different on their monitors to yours. Now, if we were all singing from the same hymn sheet...

Well, yes, I mostly agree with that. However, I only comment on posted image colours if they're apparently too magenta (or red/blue). You see, having calibrated my own display away from magenta, if something looks too magenta to me, then it really must be WAY too magenta on your screens! If you follow my logic...

I use my Spyder every couple of weeks.............

On CRT screens the recommendation was every couple of weeks but with LED screens once a month is more than enough and really that is with very, very, very high end monitors that have professional level panels - with more typical home grade monitors you can leave it far longer.
